REGION OPTION

Regions are collections of 10 degree squares which can be analysed by WWA. If you choose Select Region under the Data button, areas of the world for which region analysis are available are indicated as can be seen below. As with the 10 degree square option, one simply double clicks on the region to load all the data. One will want to use the region option if one is interested in an overall picture of the wave climate over the whole area or where the area of interest is on the boundary of two or more. Clicking on the US East Coast area on the map below will bring up the average wave height along both the Geosat and Topex ground tracks over the entire area. The location of the NOAA buoys in this area are also shown by small buoy icons.
